Today, we’re announcing Clark’s $15.6 million Series A, led by Touring Capital, with participation from Marathon and Rerail.
This is a milestone for Clark and for the work we’re doing alongside accounting firms. Our focus is clear: help audit and accounting teams carry an engagement from planning through sign-off, with their methodology, evidence, workpapers, and review in one connected system.
Built around the engagement
Audit and accounting engagements are connected bodies of work. A figure in a workpaper needs a source. An exception needs investigation. A conclusion needs review. When those steps live in separate files and conversations, teams spend time reconstructing the record before they can assess the work.
Clark brings those steps together. The firm’s methodology provides the structure. Evidence stays attached to the work it supports. Review notes, changes, and approvals remain part of the engagement record, so the next person can follow what happened and why.
AI inside the firm’s methodology
Ava, the AI teammate within Clark, helps prepare workpapers and carry out audit and accounting work within the scope the firm defines. The team can inspect the source evidence, review proposed work, make changes, and decide what to approve.
That is the standard we build toward: useful work that a reviewer can examine. Faster preparation matters when it gives teams more room to investigate exceptions, challenge assumptions, and exercise professional judgment. The engagement team remains responsible for its conclusions and sign-off.
The work ahead
Our ambition is to make the knowledge inside an audit and accounting firm more usable across every engagement. Templates, review experience, and established ways of working should help the next team start stronger, while the firm retains control of how its work is performed.
This round marks the next chapter of that work. We’re grateful to Touring Capital, Marathon, and Rerail for backing Clark, and to the firms whose questions, feedback, and daily use shape the platform.
To the accountants and auditors building with us: thank you. We’re looking forward to what we build together next.
